Please welcome our new Head Football Coach, Mr. Sal Ortiz

Sal Ortiz enters his first season with Wilson as their varsity head football coach. Coach Ortiz previously spent 2016 as Workman High School’s co-head coach for their varsity football team. He has also spent previous years as the defensive coordinator and strength coach at his high school alma mater Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights, Calif. where the program saw a cumulative record of 22-12 during his tenure.  During that time, Ortiz mentored three defensive lineman to All-CIF honors as well as an All-State nomination.  He was an integral member of Los Altos' 1999 and 2000 CIF Division VII Championships under coach Greg Gano.  Ortiz earned Los Angeles Times SGV All-Valley Linebacker as well as Southern Section California Interscholastic Federation Division VII Co-Defensive Player-of-the-Year for Los Altos High School in 2001.

 

Ortiz continued his education at Chaffey Community College in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. under coach Carl Beach they had a 19-3 record in the two years he participated.  After transferring to Azusa Pacific University, playing one season under coach Victor Santa Cruz, Ortiz earned his Bachelors of Arts in Physical Education and his California Teaching Credential.
