Adviser Mr. J Han

Mr. J Han has been leading the Robotics team since 2014. He is part of the Science Department and has experience teaching Biology, Biology Honors, Biotechnology, and Biomedical Science. He currently teaches Biomedical Science, coaches Science Olympiad, and Robotics at Wilson.

"Robotics goes beyond just building a robot and competing, it teaches students the importance of working together, sharing ideas, and treating others with respect and dignity. We are building a community focused on building a better world for tomorrow by engaging students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)."

Why Join the Robotics Team?

Are you interested in building robots, programming, spreading the love of STEM, or being part of one of the most motivated and successful competitive teams on campus? Do you want to meet to Engineers from NASA, JPL, and Caltech? Do you enjoy doing community service and volunteer work? Then Join Robotics Today! We do more than just build robots: we become project managers, outreach to professionals, help spread STEM in the community, and volunteer at charitable events.

About Our Team

Our team started in 2012 as the RoboCats, with a small group of students interested in robotics. In 2015, we changed our team name to Alpha Genesis and began competing in FTC (First Tech Challenge) competitions in Southern California, Northern California, Nevada, and Texas. Our team is made up of 12 students from Glen A. Wilson High School, two coaches, and two mentor. Over 50% of our students come onto our team with no experience in robotics. Our team members are well-balanced and participate in various sports and activities such as, band, link crew, badminton, track, cross country, wrestling, swim, water polo, drama, and art.

Our mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
