What is the Diploma Program (DP)?

The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education, with final examinations, that prepares students, aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond.

The DP has gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities. Annually, DP students send transcripts to over 3300 higher education institutions in nearly 90 countries.  The most popular of these institutions are ranked among the top universities in the world.

More than 1 million students will have participated in the DP since its inception in 1968. DP students represent a broad range of nationalities from nearly 140 countries and reflect diverse experiences and perspectives. These experiences, along with the DP’s emphasis on international-mindedness and academic rigor, provide students with a unique set of skills, attitudes and perspectives for success in university and life in the 21st century.
